Multiple Excited Magnetic System

For continuous energy conversion devices like alternators, synchronous motors etc., multiply excited magnetic systems are very much in use.

The figure shows double excited magnetic system.This system has two independent sources of excitations.One source is connected to coil on stator while other is connected to coil on rotor

Electro Mechanical Energy Conversion Devices

In practise,three types of electromechanical energy conversion devices are in use.

• The various transducers such as microphones,loudspeakers,strain gauge,thermocouples etc.These devices handle low energy signals & mostly operate on vibrating motion.
• The devices which produce the mechanical force or torque based on translatory motion such as electro magnets,relays,solenoids,actuators etc.These devices handle large energy.
• The devices used for continuous energy conversion using rotational motion such as generators,motors etc.These devices handle very large energy signals.
